Pig Pen Designs was formed by Sydney Cymbala, a new mom and entrepreneur in Parker, Colorado.  When Syd’s young son Harrison was eating his yogurt as he did every morning followed with a few morsels of Cheerio’s, she found herself constantly scraping the dried yogurt off the floor.  Finally, fed up with her morning ritual she took a trip to the local baby superstore.  After scouring the feeding accessories she discovered the high chair "splat" mats would better suite a daycare center than a home. Patterns with cartoon character flair definitely did not fit in with her home’s stylish modern decor. 

Sydney Cymbala is not a decorating maven, but as a woman and mother she wanted a product to provide lasting function and yet also fit in with her home’s fashion.

She saw the need to tailor baby home fashions to this market niche. Sydney wanted to meet a standard that would be acceptable in any home and still provide the function it needed. With that, Pig Pen Designs was born, and her floors were saved.
